An American director, writer, voice actor, and illustrator, born in Beaumont, Texas, United States. He studied at the California Institute of the Arts and Lamar University in Texas, and began his career presenting animated films. He collaborated with the Walt Disney Company in the early 1980s and co-wrote the movie Beauty and the Beast (1991). He directed five animated films during his career, starting with Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron (2002). Among his other credits are UglyDolls (2019) and Smurfs: The Lost Village (2017).
