American actor, born Peter Duesler Aurness on March 18, 1926 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. In his youth he excelled in sports and music. He graduated from the University of Minnesota after studying drama, and spent two years in the US Air Force. His acting credits include Stalag 17 (1953), Airplane! (1980), Mission: Impossible (1967-1973) and The Night of the Hunter (1955). He won an Emmy for Judy Garland: Beyond the Rainbow (1977). He died on March 14, 2010 in California.
