A Canadian-American actress, born in Montreal, Canada. She was the only daughter of professional hockey player Fred Dewhurst, while her mother was a housewife. She graduated from Riverside High School in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, then attended Milwaukee-Downer College for two years before moving to New York to continue her career. Among her works are The Dead Zone (1983) and Anne of Avonlea (1987).
