An Indian actor, born in Nawanshahr, Punjab, India, on June 22, 1932. He was one of the most famous villains in Indian cinema. After failing in his first audition, he worked in the Ministry of Labour and Employment, after which he turned to the theater, then began to appear in movies in the 1970s. In 1980, he played a notable role in the movie Hum Paanch, which helped him participate in international movies, such as Richard Attenborough's Gandhi (1982) and Steven Spielberg's Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (1984).
