Scottish actor, born in Edinburgh, Scotland. After receiving his education at Clifton Hall School in Scotland, he enrolled in the Edinburgh Academy. He temporarily served in the army's Royal Scottish Youth Regiment until suffering injuries during weapons training. He worked for the The Royal Shakespeare Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon, England.
