British actress, she made her stage debut at the age of 17, and has worked in film and television for five decades. She won the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) award in 1986 for her role in the television series "Hotel du Lac", based on the novel of the same name by British writer Anita Brookner. In 2004, the Queen of Britain awarded her the Order of the British Empire in honor of her overall work in the field of acting. Two years later, she played the role of the former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher in the TV movie Pinochet in Suburbia. She was married to actor Jeremy Brett "Sherlock Holmes" for four years until 1962. She met her second husband, Russian scientist Yuri Andrei 27 years later. She died from cancer, on 3 July, 2011.
