An American director and screenwriter, he was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, USA. He graduated from New York University with a bachelor's degree in dramatic literature and film. He later resumed his cinema studies classes at New York University, where he also started writing film criticism while doing research for the university's journal. He also participated in music videos. He is known for The Immigrant (2013) and Two Lovers (2008).
