A French actress, writer, and director, born in 1946 in French Algeria. She studied philosophy and acting at university. She began working through theater but found herself more attracted to the cinematic medium. Her most important works include The Question, My American Uncle, and Bolero: Dance of Life. She won the César Award for Best Supporting Actress in 1980 for her role in Practice Makes Perfect (1979).
