An American playwright, born on June 20, 1905, in New Orleans, Louisiana. She aroused the interest of critics with her first play The Children's Hour (1934). Her other notable plays include The Little Foxes (1939), while her notable work in cinema includes Dead End (1937) and Julia (1977). She died on June 30, 1984, in Massachusetts.
