An American actress, born in Denison, Iowa, on January 27, 1921. After graduating from high school, Donna moved to Los Angeles to attend college and pursue a career in acting. She participated in many college plays before an MGM talent scout spotted Donna, and she signed a contract with the company. She began her career with a small role in The Getaway (1941). Donna subsequently became a Hollywood A-list star, and in 1946, she starred in her most famous role in It's a Wonderful Life opposite James Stewart. In 1953, Donna co-starred in the movie From Here to Eternity, for which she won an Academy Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role. In 1958, she starred in the series The Donna Reed Show. Donna Reed died on January 14, 1986, at the age of 64.
