An American actress, born on November 12, 1929, to a wealthy family. She graduated from high school in 1947, moved to New York to pursue a career in acting, worked as a model for some time, and made her first appearance on Broadway in 1949. After moving to California, she made her film debut in Fourteen Hours (1951), followed by High Noon (1952). Among her other notable films are Dial M for Murder and Rear Window (1954), which were directed by Alfred Hitchcock, as well as The Country Girl (1954). She retired from acting after marrying Rainier III, Prince of Monaco. On September 14, 1982, she was killed in a car accident at the age of 52.
