A Cuban-American singer and songwriter, born on September 1, 1957, in Havana, Cuba. Her family immigrated to Miami, Florida, during the Cuban Revolution and her father joined the US Army and fought in the Vietnam War. She began her career when she joined the band Miami Sound Machine, and among their famous songs was Conga, which reached no. 10 on the Billboard Hot 100, and Anything for You from the album Let It Loose.
