A British writer and actor, born in the United Kingdom. He was the father of the poet Hugo Williams, the actor Simon Williams, and the actress Polly Williams. His first film in Hollywood was Charley's Aunt (1930). Following his return, he established himself as an iconic figure in the British cinema business. He returned to the world of theater through the play The Grass Is Greener, with the participation of his second wife, Margaret Vyner. His notable works include Take My Life (1947) and Wuthering Heights (1939).
