She is an American actress, born in Brooklyn, New York. She worked as a dancer, after which she got the chance to work in films. Her real debut was in the movie, The Locked Door (1929). Her career spanned 50 years, in which she worked in many acclaimed movies and got nominated for academy awards. Barbara is best known for Stella Dallas (1937) and Ball of Fire (1941).
