American actress, born on August 21, 1989 in Kabul, Afghanistan. Her father is an Indian journalist and professor. Her mother is a Russian businesswoman and artist. She moved to New York at the age of 13 and obtained a Bachelor of Arts in English from St. John's University. She is fluent in German, Russian and English, and also speaks Hindi, French and Farsi. She attended New York University to obtain a master's degree in international relations, then moved to Los Angeles. She made her debut in 2006. She was nominated for Critics' Choice Television Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series. Among her most notable works are Penguins of Madagascar (2014), and The Americans (2013).
