An American writer and producer, born in Michigan, USA. He attended Harvard University. He studied ancient Greek and was briefly a professional violinist for the Boston Ballet Orchestra and the Tanglewood Festival Orchestra. He composed music and lyrics for more than twenty musicals, and his works include Pocahontas (1995), Mulan (1998), and The Road to El Dorado (2000).
