An American director, born on August 9, 1918, in Cranston, Rhode Island. He worked as an assistant director to many notable filmmakers before directing his first movie, Big Leaguer (1953). He is also known for What Ever Happened to Baby Jane? (1962), Kiss Me Deadly (1955), and The Dirty Dozen (1967). He passed away on December 5, 1983, in Los Angeles, California.
