Indian screenwriter. He studied Urdu literature, then moved to Mumbai in 1959, where he worked as a professional journalist in several daily newspapers, then ran his own newspaper, Urdu Reporter. He began his career in cinema as a dialogue writer in the film The Chess Players (1977), then he wrote several works such as Dil Maange More!!! (2004), Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1995), and Koi... Mil Gaya (2003).
