An American writer born in Cincinnati, Ohio, in the United States. His father was Rudolph Wurlitzer, the founder of a musical instrument company. He attended Columbia University in the United States and also lived in Majorca, Spain, where he worked as secretary to the author, Robert Graves. Later, he returned to New York. He is known for Candy Mountain (1987) and Two-Lane Blacktop (1971).
