American writer, born on July 7, 1907. One of the most influential and controversial writers in science fiction, as he had a role in introducing some words and terms into the English language. He graduated from the US Naval Academy in 1929 and served as a naval officer, as he worked in radio communications in the aircraft carrier USS Lexington. He had published nearly 32 novels and 59 stories, among his most famous works is A Stranger in a Strange Land. He died on May 8, 1988 of emphysema and heart failure at the age of 80.
