British director, born in Beverly, Yorkshire, on August 10, 1914. He directed over fifty movie tapes that he completed during a career spanning five decades. Among his most prominent works are: Casablanca (1942), The Sword and the Rose (1953), and Battle of the Bulge (1965). He died on April 22, 2009 at the age of 94 in Beverly Hills.
