He left school at an early age and, after leaving the army, moved to Paris and began working for the writer René Goscinny, spending...Read more most of his life in the Saint-Germain-des-Prés neighborhood of Paris. He began his life in France in the context of the Franco-Belgian comics industry. His watercolors and individual drawings have gained international attention, and his work has appeared on the covers of The New Yorker magazine several times. In the 1950s, he became famous for creating a character called "Little Nicholas" in his cartoons for Le Moustique magazine. Several works of art have appeared based on his writing and characters, such as Raoul Taburin (2018), Nicholas on Holiday (2014), and Little Nicholas' Treasure (2021).
