American actor born on 20 March 1903 in Humansville, Missouri, US. He graduated from North Pacific Dental College and practiced dentistry for a few years until he gave it up in favor of an acting career. His most notable works include Shane (1953), The Black Arrow (1948), Ride the High Country (1962), and Arizona (1940). He married Mildred Spence and had one child. He died of an apoplexy on 4 April 1979 in Palm Desert, California, US.
