He also studied ethnology in Cologne and undertook several exploratory expeditions...Read more in southern Latin America in the wake of World War II, then returned to Germany. He participated in experimental theatre, then in cinema and television. He died in Munich, Germany, at the age of 85. He is known for The Great Escape (1963) and Sunset Blvd. (1950).
