Lebanese writer, film critic, and documentary filmmaker who was born in Beirut and began his career as a film critic for Al Safir and Al Nahar newspapers. He wrote a number of books and studies such as "Postponed Cinema". He directed his first film, "Absence" (1990). He then directed documentaries and television programs. He is particularly known for his documentary trilogy Tango of Hope (1998), When the Evening Comes (2000), and Civil War. (2002). He became a senior producer and director of documentary at Al Arabiya News Channel while still making his own films.
