Indian director, producer and editor who won Indian National Awards and FilmFare Awards. His most famous works include Munna Bhai MBBS (2003), Lage Raho Munnabhai (2006), and 3 Idiots (2009). He was born in 1962 to a family from Sindh that immigrated to India when his father was fourteen years old. He studied business and then switched to editing after the opportunities to study directing seemed difficult. He worked for a while in advertisements and then edited a number of Indian films. His first directorial work was Munna Bhai MBBS (2003). He is known for the comedy movie 3 Idiots with the well-known Indian actor Aamir Khan with whom he also co-starred in the movie PK (2014).
