At the same time, he sought not to miss any interesting theatrical performance. He tried to compose poetry and write stories. After leaving the university, he worked for several years as a junior court official. There, he realized the farces and real human tragedies. His first play was "The Bankrupt" (1849), which brought him fame. He is known for "It's a Family Affair-We'll Settle It Ourselves" and "A Profitable Position." Ostrovsky passed away in Shchelykovo on June 2, 1886.
