Lebanese singer who began her artistic career in the Radio Music Ensemble in Beirut. She became known in Baghdad to which she traveled in the mid-fifties and recorded on the radio a number of her songs. She is known for the poem "Ayan El Layl" which is said to have been composed...Read more by her. She composed a group of songs, such as the Iraqi "Yaba Yaba". She moved between the theaters of Beirut, Damascus, and Amman and recorded a group of songs composed especially for her. She joined the Near East Radio. She is characterized by a calm voice and a tone of sadness, grief, and emotion. She was influenced by the Syrian singer Mary Gibran. The Beida Company recorded a number of records by her. She disappeared from the artistic scene when she was in her thirties when she fell in love with a young Brazilian man, so she married him sold all her property in Lebanon, and traveled with him to Brazil. He seized her passport and her money, and she did not return to Lebanon until his death in 2002. The First Lady of Lebanon awarded her on behalf of the President of the Lebanese Republic, Emile Lahoud, the Lebanese Order of Merit. She died on November 27, 2014, at the age of 81.
