American actor, who was born in Caldwell, Kansas, USA on June 2, 1917. His mother was a pianist in local theatres where she played piano for silent movies, and she used to take him with her. He acted in the Pasadena Playhouse before moving to Broadway theaters. In addition to his theatrical performances, he acted in movies and TV series. He was a singer, composer, and pianist. His most important works include Niagara (1953) and Bus Stop (1956). He died on July 30, 2000, in Middletown, Connecticut, USA of cancer.
