An Egyptian author, born on October 5, 1944 in Heliopolis. He held a Bachelor of Arts, Department of Philosophy and Psychology from Cairo University. He worked since 1962 for the Misr Company for Acting and Cinema. He won the Qabbani Cup for the best short story collection in 1979. He also won the Naguib Mahfouz Award and the State Prize for Excellence in Literature in 2004. He began his literary career in the mid-sixties and published stories and articles in most Egyptian and Arab magazines and newspapers. Among his works is the series "Sunset Doesn't Come Secretly". He passed away on June 3, 2015.
