A Russian writer, born December 20, 1929. He is considered one of the most prominent writers of the former Soviet Union. He won the Lenin and State Prizes, and has many novels and stories. Among his novels: Beautiful, The Day Lasts More Than a Century and The Cut. In his novels, the writer is interested in the spiritual and psychological aspect of man, and in a number of his novels his keen interest in the environment and nature emerges. He served as the ambassador of the Kyrgyz Republic in Belgium, the European Union, NATO and UNESCO. Among his most famous books, presented artistically The Girl with the Red Scarf, Rannie zhuravli, and Smerch. He died on June 10, 2008 in Germany.
