An American writer, born in the Bronx in New York, United States. He graduated from Cornell University in 1971. He released his first novel three years later, entitled The Wanderers, when he was twenty-four years old while pursuing a master’s degree in literature from Columbia University, which was turned into a film in 1979. He released his second novel, Bloodbrothers, in 1976, while his first novel, Ladies’ Man, was in 1978. Among his writings was the 1992 novel Clockers, which director Spike Lee presented in a 1995 film of the same name. He received an Academy Award nomination. He also wrote a number of the screenplays, such as The Color of Money (1986), which was nominated for an Academy Award.
