English actress, born in Chelsea, London, England, UK as Susannah Yolande Fletcher. She won a BAFTA Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role for They Shoot Horses, Don't They? (1969) and the Best Actress Award at Cannes Film Festival for Images (1972). She married the actor and writer Michael Wells in 1960, and they had two children, Sasha Wells and Orlando Wells who participated with her in the 1984 TV adaptation of A Christmas Carol. She spent some time caring for her children, which led her career to fall behind during the 1970s. Afterwards, she returned to the theater and wrote children's books and some theatrical shows. She starred in plays, movies, TV series, and shows. She is known for Superman (1978) and A Man for All Seasons (1966). Her parents were divorced when she was six years old. She studied acting at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and studied pantomime. She was a member of the jury at the 42nd Berlin International Film Festival in 1992. She died on January 15, 2011 in Brompton, London, England, UK due to advanced bone marrow cancer.
