American actor, born in Prentice, Wisconsin, USA. He married Lillian Vedder in 1933 till he died, and they had 3 children. He debuted in high school plays. He sang in a traveling operatic company and became a radio singer in Chicago. He attended Carroll College in Wisconsin and joined the college football team. He also studied voice at the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music in Milwaukee and the American Conservatory in Chicago. He started his career with minor roles and became known after Kitty Foyle (1940). He signed a contract with MGM and Paramount. He collaborated with Jack Carson in 15 films. He quit acting and singing at the end of the 1950s and worked as a businessman. He died on September 7, 1994 in Fresno, California, USA.
