An American actress, born in San Diego, California, on January 15, 1937. In 1945, she won the Academy Award for Best Child for her role in Meet Me in St. Louis (1944), and she had two Stars from Walk of Fame. She made her first role at the age of 4 and took a minute on the screen in Babes on Broadway (1941), but she established her stardom with her performance in the next movie Journey for Margaret (1942) and changed her name from Angela to Margaret. Among her most important roles are in: Jane Eyre (1943), Meet Me in St. Louis (1944), Little Women (1949 ), and The Secret Garden (1949).
