A civil rights defender in the United States of America. He was born in Meridian, Mississippi, in the United States. His first nine grades were spent at a Catholic school. When he and a few of his colleagues chose to wear badges in recognition of their support for the National Civil Rights Organization, which was established in 1910, and they received a one-week suspension from high school, he started to promote civil rights. He appeared in the documentary Freedom Summer.
