An American director and screenwriter, born in St. Louis, Missouri, USA. He wrote and directed films starring several artists, such as Hoot Gibson, Fred Thompson, and Bob Custer. He received an Oscar nomination with the writer Maxwell Anderson for All Quiet on the Western Front (1930).
