An Egyptian author, born in Cairo. She spent twelve years of her childhood in England with her family, then returned to Egypt in 1948 and joined the English Department of the Faculty of Arts and graduated with honors. She has written many poems in English in many literary magazines and was awarded an award from the Pakistani Embassy in 1982 for her poem "Muhammad Iqbal, the Godfather of Pakistan" in celebration of the poet's 115th birthday. She also won the State Prize for Translation in 1986 for translating the book "Echoes of Arabic Poetry in the English Systems". Among her works is the television evening, "The Tales of these Days".
