An American director, writer, and singer, born in New York, USA. She was a professor at Columbia Law School. She graduated from a private school in Connecticut, USA, and then received her education at Sarah Lawrence College. She co-produced Marjoe (1972) with Howard Smith, for which she won an Academy Award for Best Documentary (Feature). She also worked as a ghostwriter.
