Leila Hyams was an American actress, born in New York City, on May 1, 1905, and died in Bel Air, Los Angeles, California, on December 4, 1977, of a heart attack. The green-eyed blonde Laila Hyams was one of the pioneers of the era of the beginning of sound films. She worked 4 years in silent films, and 8 years in talkies. At a young age, she appeared with her parents on the stage, and in her teens, she worked as a model, and became famous after appearing in a successful series of advertisements which led her to Hollywood, where she debuted through the film Sandra (1924). She is best known for her roles in the movies The Crimson City (1928), Freaks (1932), and her last movie Yellow Dust (1936).
