Niall Leonard is an Irish writer and director. He grew up in Newry, where he entered university in 1977 to study English. He trained at the National Film and Television Institute, where he majored in screenwriting and directing. He started his writing career with the short film The Web (1987), then worked on writing episodes of several series such as Wire in the Blood (2002), as well as the two movies Fifty Shades Darker (2017) and Fifty Shades Freed (2018).
