A British-American writer and director, born in New York City in 1962, then in 1992, she moved to London, where she began working at the Royal Court Theatre. She worked in a large number of plays in Britain and wrote her first screenplay Mrs. Harris in 2005. She also wrote the screenplay for the 2015 movie Carol.
