Claude Lorius is a French glaciologist and director emeritus of research at the French National Centre for Scientific Research. From 1983 to 1988, he served as director of the Laboratoire de glaciologie et géophysique de l'environnement in Grenoble. Lorius participated in more than 20 polar expeditions, mostly to Antarctica. HE also helped in the organization of many international collaborations, such as the Vostok Station ice core. He appeared as himself in the documentary film Antarctica: Ice and Sky.
