He is an Ethiopian director, born in 1978 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. He holds an MFA in writing and directing from New York University. He is known for Lamb (2015), Housewarming (2009), and The Quiet Garden (2009). His short film, Lamb (2015), was screened at the Cannes Film Festival and received the Un Certain Regard Award.
