An American actress, singer, and writer, born February 18, 1968, in Roseville, California. She is of German and English descent. After being educated at the Lycée Français de Los Angeles. She began her acting career at the age of five in a theatrical production of Alice in Wonderland. She appeared in several successful John Hughes films, such as Sixteen Candles (1984), The Breakfast Club (1985), and Pretty in Pink (1986).
