A French former motorsports racing driver, born in Lorette, Loire, France. He is a four-time Formula One World Champion, the third most successful Formula One driver after Michael Schumacher and Juan Manuel Fangio. He held the record for most Grand Prix wins from 1987 to 2001 when Schumacher surpassed Prost's 51 victories. At the age of 14, Prost took up karting and soon won the French and European Formula Three Championships before joining the McLaren Formula One team in 1980 at the age of 25. He moved to Renault from 1981 to 1983, and in 1984 he returned to McLaren until 1989, then raced for Ferrari for the next two years, and after a one-year hiatus in 1992, played for Williams in his final professional year. He won four Formula 1 seasons in 1985, 1986, 1989 and 1993. After retiring in 1993, he created a team called Prost Grand Prix.
