An American actor, born in New York, United States, and of Spanish origin. In the early 1930s, his parents relocated to New York from Puerto Rico. He enrolled at the University of Puerto Rico, where he worked as a part-time English translator in addition to studying political science and acting. After being awarded the first scholarship of its type to study acting during his third year at the institution, he relocated to Los Angeles. In 1959, he started his artistic career by joining the Pasadena Playhouse and earning a bachelor's degree in theatrical arts. He also participated in many different cinematic works and appeared in a number of series.
