An American actor, born in Baltimore, Maryland, US, as Hans Georg Conried Jr. He studied acting at Columbia University and went on to play major classical roles on stage. He also worked in radio, TV, and cinema productions. His distinctive voice made him a popular radio performer...Read more during the 1930s and 1940s, and in the following four decades, he had a successful second career voicing characters in animated films and television productions. He is known for voicing the characters of Captain Hook in Peter Pan (1953) and The Grinch in It's Grinch Night (1977). He received a star on the Walk of Fame in 1960 and a Winsor McCay Award in 1978. He was married to Margaret Grant, with whom he had four children, and they stayed together till he died on January 5, 1982, in Burbank, California, USA.
