An American actress, she was born in New York. Her father was the playwright Russel Crouse. She attended the HB Studio in Greenwich Village, New York, to study dramatic arts after earning degrees from Radcliffe College in 1970 and the Chapin School in 1966. Her acting debut was in 1972. She is known for Communion (1989), Mr. Brooks (2007), and The Arrival (1996).
