A British filmmaker of nature documentaries for television and cinema, born on April 10, 1960, in London, England, UK. He studied at St Cuthbert's Society, Durham, at Durham University, and later joined the BBC Studios Natural History Unit in 1983 to work on The Really Wild Show, Wildlife on One, and David Attenborough's The Trials of Life. In 2008, he signed a multi-picture deal with Disneynature. Alastair worked on a large number of documentaries, many of which won international awards. He is known for Planet Earth (2006), The Blue Planet (2001), Earth (2007), and Frozen Planet (2011-2012).
